Considerations for Google Classroom
This page includes information and recommendations for Google Classroom for teachers who are leaving the district.
Google Classroom Content
If you leave CUSD, your Google Account will be deactivated and you will no longer be able to access Google content including Google Drive and Google Classroom. If you have content in your Google Classroom you want to save, be sure to copy it to a place outside CUSD platforms or transfer ownership to another teacher.
CUSD Created Classrooms
If the classroom was created during the year automatically by our district systems, you will need to copy the content to another location outside of CUSD.
Google Drive: Documents and Assignments
If you created documents and assignments using Google Docs, Google Slides, Google Sheets, or other files, you can access these files from your Google Drive in the Classrooms folder. Then, follow the instructions to transfer files from your Google Drive.
Stream Posts and Comments
If you want to save any stream posts or comments you made during the year, the only option is to copy them and paste them into a personal Word document or personal Google Document to save the text. Another option is to capture a screen image and save that to a personal location.
Transfer Ownership of a Custom Class
If a custom class was created by a teacher during the year, the class will not be archived and will continue to remain active and be managed by the teacher(s) who are listed as a teacher in that class. However, if the owner leaves CUSD, the class will be deleted.
It is possible to transfer ownership of that class to another teacher who is not leaving the district and will continue to manage the class. Be sure to communicate because both teachers need to be involved.
Follow these instructions to transfer ownership to another teacher.
